This year and my Book launch!

I cant believe a year has gone by, there's too much to write about from fairs last Christmas, making Easter characters and dabbling in video, to running Glitterfest family workshops (Facebook westglitterfest) with Jen Pickston this Summer, the start the idea Kidscreate.biz ( kidscreate.biz), more fairs this Christmas and FINALLY the launch of my new book, yeahh!!!
It was over 2.5 years ago that I started an idea for a book inspired by my daughter Sophie who adored her Bunny taking it everywhere from bed to breakfast to the loo. The first story was about this and it been chopped and changed, lived several transformations, been honed and refined since then. I have spent a long time in search of my own visual style as I thought, as an art therapist, that somehow I must be able to illustrate it. But I simply cant really draw well and I continually copied others styles in painstaking way, until one day I discovered felt making. Then voila, my style and creative freedom of was born! This combined for my love of multi media opened up a wonderfully liberating personal visual expression and the true style of Feely Felts. I often have a giggle to myself when i make a silly character or find a babies bottle is the perfect space capsule for my carrot rocketship.
The whole process has been an enormous learning curve from scratch: from story writing, developing my own illustrative style, photography, the printing process, graphic design, website design, social media, listening to others feedback, trade marking, promoting myself, finding finance and finding resilience. I dont find it easy finishing things in general and I have fought many of my own demons to stick it out and fullfill my dream of publishing this book. This book is about a rabbit who fulfills her own dream. It is in part a parallel for my own life. I also hope that in creating this book, I inspire children and adults to fulfill their own dreams no matter what they may be.
Thank you to Frankell my husband for putting up with mounds of felt and mess, your patience and quiet unending support. Thank you my daughter Sophie for being my biggest inspiration, for all your ideas and love. For your courage, daring and creativity in selling your own crafts and products at fairs and giving me the energy to go myself and sell mine.
Thank you all who bought my books at the Little Ealing Fair this Saturday and sold out the whole pile of books I took. Each book you bought gave me an affirmation and a little courage to continue in what I am doing and when I saw a child or adult smile and connect with the book this made me glow.
May we all have courage no matter how small in walking, shuffling or leaping towards our dreams.
